St. Louis, August 3, 2015

The 2015 Missouri Deer Classic & Outdoor Expo at the Family Arena in St. Charles has already come and gone, but what an eventful weekend it was. Red’s Gear, an online retailer located in St. Louis, showed their commitment and support to Missouri hunters by sponsoring this year’s event. The weekend featured 3 days of vendors, seminars and giveaways and of course, the opportunity to see all those big Missouri Whitetails. Hunters were encouraged to bring in their antlers to have them scored and recorded in the Pope & Young, Boone & Crockett and Missouri Show-Me Big Bucks record books. The bucks and antlers were then put up on display for everyone to see.  And for those who wanted to further document their trophy or maybe show off to their buddies who didn’t make it to the expo, Red’s Gear brought along a professional photographer to take pictures and post to social media.  The smiles were big as hunters stopped to pose with their trophies.

The Missouri Department of Conservation was on hand to talk to hunters about the state of the deer herd in Missouri and how to better manage hunting land. Other speakers held seminars regarding game cameras and filming their hunts.  Kids had the chance to show off their archery skills by shooting balloons and could then play a friendly game of Archery Tag (the archery equivalent of air soft or paint ball) on a “field” set up outside at the 2015 Missouri Deer Classic & Outdoor Expo. Anyone who wanted to try their hand at an ancient spear throwing weapon called an atlatl (pronounced at-latal) was free to take some throws just to remind us how easy we have it now days hunting-wise. But if hunting with one of the oldest known human mechanical inventions wasn’t your thing there were plenty of other things to keep you occupied, like sausage eating and best beard contests.

There were vendors from all over the country offering every product a hunter could need. Two local businesses were the class of the show. Scott’s Power Equipment packed their booth full of UTVs, tractors and various hunting accessories.  They even offered a hunting blind big enough to park a small car in.  The official sponsor, Red’s Gear, dressed up their 500 square foot booth with their signature rustic look and over 400 products including bows, bow hunting accessories, game cameras, and more.  The selection was big and the prices were better than other well-known outdoor sporting goods stores. If you want to see all the products that Red’s Gear has to offer, you can check them out at www.RedsGear.com.

Contests were going on all day.  Prizes included marinades, backpacks, targets, gun cases, knives, coolers, and bows.  A few vendors raffled off rifles and shotguns.  Missouri Disabled Sportsmen Inc. was generous enough to give away both a rifle and a shotgun. Red’s Gear alone gave away over $4,000 in prizes.

The 2015 Missouri Deer Classic & Outdoor Expo had something to offer every outdoorsman.  Whether you just wanted to take a look at some of the best antlers in the state or you were in the market for some new broadheads and a new bow and maybe a new Chevy truck to pull your new RV packed with your new UTV… you could do it all at the 2015 Missouri Deer Classic & Outdoor Expo.
